ABSTRACT

Personal protective equipment (PPE) includes all clothing and accessories designed to create a barrier against workplace hazards. The basic element of any PPE management program should be an in-depth evaluation of the equipment needed to protect our employees from the hazards found in our workplace. Prevention of head injuries is an important factor in our safety program, because a survey by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of Accidents and Injuries noted that most workers who suffered impact injuries to the head were not wearing head protection at the time of injury. Eye and face protection is required where there is a reasonable probability of preventable injury to our workers. Exposure to high noise levels can cause hearing loss or impairment to our employees. It can also create physical and psychological stress. There are many hazards that can harm the body, and are caused by high heat, hot liquid metal, cuts, acids and radiation.
