ABSTRACT

One of the most important mathematical techniques used in communication engineering and information theory is Sampling Theory. Although most of its earliest applications were in these two fields, nowadays the applications of sampling theory permeate many branches of physics and engineering, such as signal analysis, image processing, radar, sonar, acoustics, optics, holography, meteorology, oceanography, crystallography, physical chemistry, medical imaging and many more. An extensive list of such applications containing over 800 references can be found in [12]; see also [16] for recent references.
