ABSTRACT

An audit may be conducted on quality assurance procedures as followed by an analytical laboratory, project program management, or any functional entity of a program. There are certain fundamental concepts, including a glossary of regulatory terms, that contribute to a more complete understanding of the laws, regulations, and compliance issues associated with environmental and natural resource protection. The final rules promulgated by federal agencies in the Federal Register are codified annually in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The federal regulations were codified in the Code of Federal Regulations in 1937. The CFR titles initially were the same as those for the US Code. Enforcement is the ultimate action to seek compliance with law or regulations and to assess damages for past non-compliance. The Federal Register is the regulatory newspaper of the federal government. Regulations are final rules published in the Federal Register following an opportunity for public comment.
