ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we discuss line integrals of functions and of vector fields along curves. As we shall see in this chapter and the next, these ideas are important in the physical sciences. The key result is Green’s theorem, which relates the line integral of a vector field around a closed curve in R 2 to the ordinary integral of a related function over the region enclosed by the curve.
