ABSTRACT
In a systems approach to product development, this is called Configuration Management (CM). It requires disciplined document maintenance and control from the start of product development. Any product-related document is a considered to be a CM artifact. Although changes are expected to happen, they are instituted with a proper review for the impact of the change on the design, manufacturing, service, compliance, supply chain, and so on. Simply put, a proper review that involves the cross functional product-sustaining team.
