ABSTRACT

Knowing whether or not a model is a reasonable representation of the system being studied is a critical question for all modeling efforts. This turns out to be a very difficult question to answer. Since every model is a simplification of reality, all models will deviate from 100% accuracy when compared with available experimental data. At the same time, experimental data may contain errors, be available for only limited cases, or be lacking in its scope in other ways, making it impossible to fully prove that a model is correct.
