ABSTRACT

Many disruptive forces have emerged and automotive industries are empowering real change in the way cars are sold, used and conceived. Driven by examples of companies in other industry branches that did not respond to disruptive technologies, most notably Kodak, automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are embracing these new technologies and searching for new ways to deliver mobility to consumers, and to monetize mobility platforms. The author particular perspective is on the networks of Electric Vehicles (EV) and how these can be orchestrated in a manner that derives maximal benefit for the user of the vehicle and for society. As the author shall see, this perspective shall lead to a rich exploration involving distributed control and optimization, queueing theory, as well as some new ideas in electro-mobility.
