ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how students can be a little greener at their home and in their backyard. It presents many practical and functional ideas to get students inspired to take action. The chapter then talks about energy loss and keeping the temperature comfortable in their house without overburdening the wallet. It offers several practical suggestions on just how to do that, and then explores ways to go green in the kitchen and in keeping things clean and tidy without depending on chemicals. The chapter looks at the progress of the Energy Star program, its benefits, and the latest developments in fighting climate change. It also offers some practical advice on how to create students own compost and other practical applications. Going green at home is often one of the first places to make a change for a greener lifestyle.
