ABSTRACT

This chapter briefly discusses the application, chemical properties and physical properties of arsine. It presents detailed information on the air analysis of arsine. Arsine is used as a doping agent for solid-state electronic components. It is slightly soluble in water, highly toxic and colorless gas with disagreeable garlic odor. During the air analysis of arsine, air is drawn through a cellulose ester membrane to remove any arsenic particulate in front of a charcoal tube. Arsine is desorbed into 1 mL 0.01 M HNO3 in an ultrasonic bath for more than 30 min contact time. Arsenic is analyzed by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometer at the wavelength 193.7 nm.
