ABSTRACT

When terrorism was just a new type of response in which little was known about how to respond, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) created some temporary interim amendments to its standards relating to hazardous materials response to include issues involving acts of terrorism. The major standards affected were NFPA 472 Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents and NFPA 1991 Standard on Vapor Protective Suits for Hazardous Materials Emergencies.
