ABSTRACT

During World War II, the Germans had large stockpiles of nerve agents but chose not to use them. Allied forces had no protection against the agents, and if those had been used, troops would have been at a huge disadvantage. Surprisingly, the reason they were not used was Adolf Hitler. He was a German soldier during World War I and witnessed the effects of chemical agents used against troops. Because of this, he refused to use them offensively during World War II.
