ABSTRACT

Most large-scale changes are driven by business need, strategic initiative, competition in the market, and budget requirements. They involve executives, board meetings, business plans and proposals, and a lot of hard work done by a small group of leaders. Executive sponsors are the name and face of a change initiative, which means power and risk. They have power and influence over the entire initiative, and they also have everyone who is impacted by the change initiative looking to them for answers and making judgments. An executive sponsor has three very important roles and should focus on mastering the skills required to perform each of them. These critical roles are Story Teller, Super Hero and Spark of Energy. Change adoption professionals are essential partners for the executive sponsor and are very helpful in developing these skills and keeping these duties highlighted in the work of the sponsor.
