ABSTRACT

Operational leaders' main role of daily operations means that people know how things are supposed to be done and how to motivate their staff to do those things. At Healing Neighbors Healthcare (HNH), Epic recommended a Clinical Readiness Program concept, which people customized and expanded for their electronic health record (EHR) implementation. The Readiness Programs were essentially monthly meetings with key leaders in each group from all locations. At HNH, they spend a lot of time prepping and planning and vetting to make sure that every meeting was worth their time. They gave them consumable, simple handouts to share back in their departments and a checklist of things they needed to do before the next meeting. The Readiness Programs were valuable and helpful and provided two-way communication between Operations and the EHR Project team.
