ABSTRACT

Most large-scale change transformations are complex in all directions. They impact a lot of people, often in different ways or degrees. They are highly technical or involve sophisticated processes. Service departments like human resources (HR) or information technology (IT) and project management offices (PMO) are full of people who bring changes upon their organizations. Project teams also have some other challenges to consider if they want successful change adoption. Projects are intense, rapid-paced, and full of experts. Picture for a minute complete strangers rushing into your department, talking about concepts that don't make sense and using acronyms that do not mean anything to you. Change adoption professionals provide change support predominantly in the key areas such as diagnostics and alignment, communications, leadership management, and adoption measurement. In each of these areas, authors leverage their psychological science skills to help motivate and build momentum for change.
