ABSTRACT

It is common knowledge that physicians are a unique stakeholder group in healthcare. They have varying employment arrangements (employee, contracted, community, privileged at multiple locations, solely independent, etc.), and their change experience is also more complex than other groups because of the range of changes for each specialty. At Healing Neighbors Healthcare (HNH), there was a dedicated group of team members who supported the physician experience, from the initial planning for the EHR implementation until months after each location was on the new system and adopting new work processes. This Physician Support Team includes Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), Physician Champions, Health Informatics Physician Liaison, Clinical Content and Decision Support Physician Liaison, Change Adoption Provider Professional, and Training Lead for Physician Curriculum. They attended dozens of Medical Staff events, hosted open labs in private physician lounges to be conveniently available to doctors at any time, and did endless hours of rounding and one-on-one conversations with physicians about their change experience.
