ABSTRACT

Project team members care about people and the hardship they know people will experience through change. For each change initiative they support, they work hard to establish relationships with 100s of people because people need to trust them in order to make change faster and easier. Change adoption professionals use measurements to determine people's readiness or resistance to change and the effectiveness of team members' efforts to support people through the change experience. At Healing Neighbors Healthcare, their electronic health record implementation reached almost everyone, in varying ways, at varying times, and with varying levels of engagement. All of this complexity in the change experience meant that the communication effort was going to be vital, complicated, and very large. Communication is one of the main components of every change adoption methodology. Change adoption professionals use psychology and business acumen to understand the people side of change and what tools work best to bring employees along their change journey.
