ABSTRACT

Healthcare is being pressured to change in a few very important ways and all at once. To be more specific, there are three main drivers of change in healthcare today. They are payment/policy, technology innovations, care model or delivery. The patient has always been in the center of health professional's work and continues to be the focus of their industry. But now the patient also drives change. Their patients' demand for information and treatment options is growing because their health is more complex and there is so much information available. Health professional patients' ability to make decisions based on cost comparisons or the breadth of our treatment offerings can no longer be stifled by our lack of transparency and data sharing. Healthcare is not alone. Many other industries have transformed because of these three drivers and consumer demand.
