ABSTRACT

The 80/20 technique is the best for selling management on an idea. Applying 80/20 to the team can help the project manager to quantify who are his/her top performers, see what characteristics they have in common, and use that information to find more team members like them. This chapter shows data and a Pareto chart to exemplify a way to find the top performers. These are useful to know how many tasks each of the team members gets done. This number may be skewed by the importance of a task or the size of the task, but it will provide quantifiable data for the 80/20 analysis. Businesses are using the KISS principle as well. The KISS principle enters by simplifying one's structure to what works and working smarter, not harder. Quantifying goals is important for the team as well. In addition to using 80/20 analysis to quantify, he/she is also taking those results and trying to 10x them right away.
