ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the core reasons for the concerns of head office (HO) managers that prevent them from treating the offshore center teams at par with the HO teams. The HO managers consider the offshore center as an integral part of the company, but they still do not treat the offshore center teams at par with their local HO teams. They consider the offshore center teams to be less capable than the HO teams. Such an outlook by the HO managers creates a number of constraints for the offshore center teams. The chapter summarizes these constraints. The challenges and constraints faced by offshore center teams are not due to any deliberate design by HO management. Instead, these challenges are due to misgivings and concerns about the capabilities of the offshore center teams. The chapter finally lists many assumptions about the offshore center teams, which are made by the HO management team.
