ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the reasons for which the head office (HO) management imposes the HO norms on the offshore center. It presents arguments against this flawed approach. The acts of the HO management of imposing the HO norms on the offshore center result in the offshore center having problems in hiring, retaining, and motivating their employees. The chapter then elaborates with examples of some aspects where the HO management needs to respect the work culture and sensitivities of the offshore center life balance by making the HO and offshore center share the pain that is often due to the timezone difference between the two locations. It finally suggests a solution to address these problems by creating a local management committee within the offshore center that refines the HO norms as per the local work culture and sensitivities before implementing them in the offshore center.
