ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the topic of having offshore center representation in various global committees in detail. It first describes some typical global management committees created by companies, and the functions performed by such committees. The chapter then discusses the need for representing the offshore center fairly in these committees by discussing the negative impact on the offshore center if there is a lack of such representation, and showing how fair representation can resolve these issues. It further provides a case study that shows that having a junior-level offshore center representative in a committee may be only as good as not having any offshore center representation in the committee. Finally, the chapter suggests techniques for the offshore center management to convince the head office (HO) management to offload large, core, complex, and high-revenue-generating projects to the center, to significantly increase its contributions to the company.
