ABSTRACT
Several intensified processes are found to be quite superior to the conventional technology by multiple already-published studies. Aspen Plus® is a software that allows the user to model a distillation column involving a chemical reaction through the kinetic model included inside Aspen Plus. This chapter introduces some generalities about using Aspen Plus modeler to design a process where it is necessary to handle a kinetic model. The User Model makes it possible to calculate and design some unit operations in Aspen Plus. Each Aspen Plus Version works with certain FORTRAN versions and Microsoft Visual Studio. Aspen Plus provides a utility to allow the user to specify the combination of compiler and linker. For RadFrac module, the user kinetics subroutine in either USER reaction type or REAC-DIST reaction type can be supplied. The use of an external kinetic routine linked to Aspen Plus extendes the capabilities of the software, allowing the user the simulation of non-conventional kinetics.
