ABSTRACT
The only energy solution for a Rights of Nature system is one that allows all ecosystems to flourish while providing humans the energy they require. Hydrogen is a more benign energy-storage alternative in several ways, when compared to batteries. The ability to efficiently turn sunlight into hydrogen on a residential scale could change the world's energy economy. Rights of Nature paradigm includes both the switch to small-scale solar power and removal and recycling of existing energy infrastructure, as well as restoration of damage to the devastated ecosystems used for energy production. The human equivalent of Nature's Laws of Reciprocity, that nothing is wasted, is the goal of zero waste. Many and varied are the proposals for a future free of energy derived from fossil fuels, ranging from massive investment in nuclear power to large-scale wind farms. But energy requirements must be met through small-scale solar and auxiliary means that do not increase the human footprint.
