ABSTRACT

In Blackjack, by contrast, players place their bets at the beginning of the hand before knowing what cards are dealt, and don’t even have the option to “raise” or “fold” as they see additional cards come out (or if they do, it’s only in very specialized situations). Meanwhile, the gambling card game Blackjack is also highly random from hand to hand, but aside from banned strategies like counting cards, this is thought of as more of a game of chance. Most gambling games also feature output randomness prominently: place a wager and then the random element determines a win or loss. The benefit of output randomness is that it adds excitement: will a player score a critical hit, or will they hit the jackpot. Casinos are very good at detecting when a player is doing this and are quick to step in and forcibly remove the player from the premises for life.
