ABSTRACT

Nanomagnetism is making important contributions to nanotechnology integrating physics with engineering, biology, chemistry, and medicine. As an important player in the nanotechnology revolution, nanomagnetism is advancing many areas of science and engineering and provides a platform for current and future technological innovations. Magnetic nanoparticles exhibit unique properties due to their size and shape as they lie at the interface between the molecular and solid state, at the intersection of classical and quantum-mechanical behavior, that is, they exhibit quantum-size effects leading to size-dependent physical properties different from those of their bulk counterparts.
