ABSTRACT

The environment is undoubtedly one of the aspects that confers greater visibility to the oil and gas industry. Health, safety and environment (HSE) are of major concern in any industry. The HSE component has become an integral part in the management of oil and gas companies. Occupational health is about protecting the physical and mental health of workers and ensuring their welfare in the workplace. In the offshore industry, the management of health issues is integrated into the installation's safety management system. Safety offshore has two main aspects. Firstly, the safety of the installation and secondly workers' attitude toward safety. The safety systems that are common in both offshore drilling and production platforms are fire safety system; lifesaving appliances; helicopter transportation; transfer of personnel and material; safety in communication and electrical system; safety in use of explosives and radioactive substances; and safety in case of emergency.
