ABSTRACT

There are three parks in the Southeast Alaska Network: Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve (GLBA), Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park (KLGO), and Sitka National Historical Park (SITK). Only GLBA is larger than 100 mi2 (259 km2). There are no urban centers larger than 50,000 people near the Southeast Alaska Network and only one larger than 25,000 people. Figure 22.1 shows the network boundary along with locations of each park and population centers around the network that have more than 10,000 people. The predominant cover types within this network are generally forest and unvegetated areas covered by perennial ice and snow.
