ABSTRACT

This part conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters. The part provides a factual client ‘how to do it’ guide or ‘toolkit’ for procuring more successful project outcomes. The ultimate goals of projects should be geared around clients’ requirements in terms of their aspirations, ambitions, visions, aims and objectives. It is of paramount importance that the requirements of clients are fully articulated and understood by themselves and others involved in their projects. Client requirements constitute the primary source of information for a construction project and, therefore, are of vital importance to the successful planning and implementation of a project. The construction industry has emerged as a bespoke project based industry where there are many different characteristics to other industries such as manufacturing. Management of projects from the perspectives of construction clients has become sophisticated with development of skills linked to achieving projects’ objectives.
