ABSTRACT

CorporateClient/Delivery Capability/Transformation Stage: To develop the concept and argument for change into a more detailed framework of delivery with options and steps for the provision of a physical space, all within the context of the corporate appetite for risk. This chapter focuses on detailed planning at corporate management level required prior to design and construction activities. A client-side operational management plan is a more detailed brief of how the project is going to be delivered in its entirety. The purpose of configuration is to describe the best logic to manage delivery and to optimise cashflow, to identify ‘pinch points’ and critical paths and to minimise risk. Having established a clear client brief and determined what is known and not known, this becomes a high level configuration problem. Having taken the decision in the configuration plan to externalise a package packages as part of the supply chain we need to think about what control mechanisms would apply to an external package.
