ABSTRACT

Clients are important to the construction processes as they are normally the creators and funders of projects and as such the drivers for their developments. According to D. Boyd and E. Chinyio, the basic structure of a construction client model is internally made up of individuals, the organisation and building. In such scenarios, this can add risks to projects especially if the client voice does not reflect what the client organisation requires in terms of business needs. The degree to which client organisations are ‘complex’ will vary according to the composition, size and nature of their respective organisations. Human needs or expectations can be different, depending on the variety and type of individuals which adds further challenges for construction clients in meeting their requirements. The organisational changes are normally instigated by clients but not all clients understand the importance of properly managing the change processes.
