ABSTRACT
We believe that all students who are seriously interested in mathematics at the master’s and doctoral level should have a passion for analysis even if it is not the primary focus of their own research interests. So you should all understand that our own passion for the subject will shine though in the notes that follow! And, it goes without saying that we assume that you are all mature mathematically and eager and interested in the material! Now, the present course focuses on ideas from linear analysis and linear functional analysis which is the next step after you have learned the basic concepts of analysis covered in (Peterson (18) 2020) and (Peterson (20) 2020). Also, for those of you who are preparing to take a qualifying or preliminary examination in analysis, this material is part of the material you will be tested on. The senior year in analysis and this course generally comprise material from fairly standard textbooks. Of course, in our notes we put our own spin on it, but we encourage you to read widely.
