ABSTRACT

Inputting Asian languages and other non-Roman languages used to be a problem. However, in the past 20 years, China and other Asian countries have made significant progress in input methods, and now this is no longer an obstacle. Consider Chinese input for example. In the past 25 years, input method evolved from natural syllable encoded input, to radical and strokes input, then returned to natural syllable encoded input. Like any kind of development, the return to natural syllable encoded input is not a mere repetition, but rather a substantial improvement.
