ABSTRACT
The hidden Markov model (HMM) is a marvelous mathematical tool. Theoretically uncomplicated, this model works wonders in practice; it is widely regarded as the most efficient solution to most natural language processing problems, including speech recognition and machine translation. After we illustrate how the HMM tackles these various applications, I am sure you will take to this model with affection as well.
