ABSTRACT

A consensus was reached on the principle of a single team, and the director identified for the platform was Gérard Detourbet, recognized by all concerned as the only one capable of taking up this significant new challenge. The Alliance A-Segment Development Unit (2ASDU) structure created in India to develop the project was radically innovative for both Renault and Nissan. It was the first time that either of the parent companies had designed a new platform outside their home countries. Renault-Nissan Technology and Business Centre (RNTBCI) is a business center with about 3,000 employees working on various projects, primarily the development of Nissan and Renault products for India. RNTBCI also provided the Indian middle managers and engineers who made up the majority of the 2ASDU project workforce, along with the personnel from Defiance. The objective of the meeting was to elucidate the autonomy of 2ASDU in light of the situation at the time.
