ABSTRACT

There are many reasons why you may want to perform an in-depth review of a topic yourself – as part of an evaluation of how you should treat patients, as part of a service improvement project, as part of the preliminary stage of a research project or if it is part of an assessment which can happen in all professions and all stages of your career. We describe these sorts of local projects as clinical topic reviews (CTRs), although if you were to subsequently submit them for publication, then they would be termed ‘systematic reviews’.
