ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates that startups that develop and pursue a well-designed strategic planning policy display superior performance compared with their rivals. The key components of strategic planning include an understanding of the firm's vision, mission, values, and strategies. Superior performance is typically thought of in terms of one company's profitability relative to that of other companies in the same or a similar kind of business or industry. It is relatively easy to perform strategic planning process when competition fits the ideal research qualifications. According to Jonathan Aberman of Amplifier Ventures, a successful value chain analysis requires a number of interlocking characteristics. A strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats involved in a project or in a business venture. Modern Competitive intelligence (CI) is divided into four different but overlapping types: strategic, competitor, tactical, and technical.
