ABSTRACT

The Senate CSAW and Chancellor's CSAW were appalled at the draft campus affirmative action plan they had been given less than two weeks to review. Betty was comfortable working with the academic senate policy committee, as the Policy CSAW she had co-chaired a few years earlier was its subcommittee. Now that she thought the senate was not paying enough attention to the problems of minorities, she went back to the committee for help. Betty was getting increasingly worked up about what she and other women saw as lack of reasonable affirmative action efforts. Betty continued to monitor and analyze the status of academic women. She was working on a new report on tenure and promotion. Betty passed along some comments about her report work to CCHE staff member Margaret S. 'Peg' Gordon. Gordon included Betty's salary studies in the report. CCHE did not give Betty an authorship on the report.
