ABSTRACT

Planning is a vital process to help the team travel a project journey. If practitioners accept the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Project Management Institute guides, then by default they are accepting the concept that there is at least one plan per phase. This plan is the output of the planning process group. The Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide has a process called the Develop Project Management Plan, which is for the project or phase. ISO 21500 has a similar process called Develop Project Plans. Every project has an objective, which is to deliver an output or a product with a clear product scope. The project team will follow a project life cycle approach that will lead to the desired outcome by going through the steps and completing the project work. The project work, along the project life cycle, consists of phases and stages, each with its own purpose and scope of work.
