ABSTRACT

The two words "life cycle" are used together so often, and in different contexts, that confusion is a normal result. Life cycles include product life cycle, project life cycle, project management life cycle, and life-cycle costs. The product life cycle extends across the whole life of the product, regardless of what that product is. In this context, the product is the output that the project delivers to the organization. Most literature on product life cycle defines it as a cycle of five phases, with the following common names applied to these phases: development; growth; maturity; decline; and withdrawal. The Operational Readiness Stage is likely to be led by the project owner directly, with support from the service provider if necessary. In other words, it is probable that the service provider will not have any work here and will not have an Operational Readiness Stage in its own project life cycle.
