ABSTRACT
As in the last chapter, the input datum of our consideration is still a function. Here, however, we will extract a single quantity related to the function, namely, its derivative. The topic of calculating the derivative of a function approximately (numerical differentiation) has been the focus of interest of mathematicians for many centuries. As will be seen, most of the methods are some kind of an extension of polynomial approximations, such as Lagrange’s or Taylor’s.
