ABSTRACT
The topic of Part II, solution approximations, is just as familiar to engineers as the topic of Part I, interpolation. It is also an area of long history; the interest in solving algebraic equations dates back to the ancient geometers. Closed-form solutions for algebraic equations of higher order were actively sought throughout the Middle Ages, culminating in Cardano’s formulae for cubic and quartic equations.
