ABSTRACT

The design approach considers the failure modes for the structural failure of recycled plastic pin (RPP). However, the design does not consider deformation of the reinforced slope or the creep failure of the RPPs. The RPP spacing should be at least one-third of the slope length. A wider spacing of RPPs can be provided in the remaining zones of the slope. The design approach was developed with consideration of three criteria that limit the failure of adjacent soil, control the deformation of the slope, and resist the creep failure of RPPs. The design method considers the limit horizontal displacement approach, where the capacities of RPPs are evaluated based on the anticipated displacement due to the soil movement. The objective of the current approach was to develop a design chart to evaluate the load capacity of RPPs based on limiting horizontal displacement and maximum flexural stress.
