ABSTRACT

Perpetuation of bacterial plant pathogen can be referred to as survival of bacteria in a given substrate or material over a long period of time. For determining perpetuation of the bacteria in the soil, the same procedure or experimentation has to be carried out at different intervals and determine the perpetuation. Some bacterial plant pathogen survive and perpetuate in seeds as external or internal seedborne plant pathogens and transmit the disease from one field to another, from one season to next, and from one locality to far-off places. Therefore, detection of perpetuation of bacterial plant pathogen in seed lots is important. If the bacteria survive through different molts of the insect, or on/in insect, in their excreta for a different period, then it is assumed that the perpetuation of the bacteria occurs in the insect. Farm implements and pruning shears act as transmission tools for plant pathogenic bacteria.
