ABSTRACT
Restricted Substances are chemicals and other materials whose use and/or presence has been banned or otherwize restricted by a brand (1). Typically, a restricted substance must be absent from a finished product or present in limited concentrations. Restricted substances may be restricted across many industries, across one industry, or in certain products or inputs. Substances are restricted for many reasons and in different ways. Some substances are restricted due to concern for the environment, while others are restricted due to health and safety concerns for workers or consumers. Some restricted substances are also restricted by legislation.
