Nucleation and Growth

The growth of an electrodeposit from an electrolyte involves a phase transformation from ionic species in the solution to a solid phase on the electrode. This phase transformation is the cumulative effect of ionic transport, discharge, nucleation, and growth. The growth of an electrodeposit is compared to growth from the vapor phase in Table 3.1.
