ABSTRACT
Within wireless communications, advances in digital processing are pushing system performance to higher levels, providing increasingly larger bandwidths and introducing more complex coding and modulation schemes. Increasingly larger parts of processing of both the radio access network (RAN) and user equipment (UE) are mapped onto digital computing devices. Looking at this mapping process, one can distinguish dierent classes of processes (or tasks) and dierent types of computing devices.
