ABSTRACT

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is basically a peer-to-peer, multihop mobile wireless network. In the absence of either a fixed communication infrastructure or any base stations (BSs) [1], mobile stations (MSs) constitute a network for themselves. Initially, MANETs have been developed for dangerous environments such as rescue and the battlefield so that emergency personnel or soldiers may be aware of the location of hazardous material or tactical situations. In these networks, all MSs are managed by a common authority (e.g., military or government agency); thus, they collaborate with each other for a common objective.
