ABSTRACT
The adoption of mobile phones in low-and middle-income countries is one of the most remarkable technology success stories in recent years. Areas that were not long ago without basic means of communication are now seeing substantial boosts to the local economies. The livelihoods of millions of people have improved as a result of the increased community connectivity, even as conventional infrastructure in many areas remains undeveloped.
