ABSTRACT

Industrial vortex-shedding owmeters are normally available in pipe sizes ranging from 15 to 300 mm (1/2-12 in.), with some manufacturers oering sizes up to 400 mm (16 in.). Flow ranges covered depend on uid properties and meter design. Typical ranges for a 15 mm meter are

• Water at 21 °C (70 °F), 0.06-2.2 L s−1 (1-35 gal min−1) • Air at 16 °C (60 °F) and 101 kPa (14.7 psia), 1.1-15.7 L s−1 (140-2000 3 h−1) • Dry saturated steam at 689 kPa (100 psig), 4.5-225 kg h−1 (10-500 lb h−1)

Typical ranges for a 300 mm (12 in.) meter are

• Water at 21 °C (70 °F), 5.4-5400 L s−1 (85-8500 gal min−1) • Air at 16 °C (60 °F) and 101 kPa (14.7 psia), 157-12,500 L s−1 (20,000-1,600,000 3 h−1) • Dry saturated steam at 689 kPa (100 psig), 1,240-124,000 kg h−1 (2,750-275,000 lb h−1)
