ABSTRACT
Ethylene (C2H4), also known as ethene, belongs to the alkene group CnH2n with 16 electrons. It has an electronic polarizability of 4.73 × 10−40 F m2, nonpolar dissociation energy of 4.82 eV, and ionization potential of 10.514 eV. The molecule has 12 modes of vibration with the energies shown in Table 78.1 (Herzberg, 1945).
